About Qualified Medical Evaluations (QME, PQME, AME)

In the state of California, Medical-Legal Evaluations are performed during the process of a disability dispute in a Worker's Compensation case.  Accent On Wellness Psychology Associates, Inc.'s Clinical Director, Dr. Daniel Ernesto Bruzzone, PsyD, QME provides this service.  Dr. Bruzzone's education and training make him uniquely qualified for this role.


Dr. Bruzzone earned a B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Gerontology from California State University, Northridge (CSUN).  His graduate work included studies at USC and Phillips Graduate Institute in Encino, CA where he earned Master of Arts and Doctor of Psychology degrees in Clinical Psychology and Forensic Psychology.  Since 2002, Dr. Bruzzone has published on topics of Psychology and Gerontology and lectured widely beginning with California State University, Northridge, the University of Southern California and Phillips Graduate Institute.  He later joined the faculties of Master and Doctoral psychology programs at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, Phillips Graduate Institute, and National, Argosy, Antioch and Pepperdine Universities.  Dr. Bruzzone was the co-creator and Interim Director of the Trauma Specialization in the graduate psychology program at Antioch University Los Angeles.

Dr. Bruzzone’s clinical experience began in 2002 with work in neuropsychology for C.A.R.E. at the Granada Hills Community Hospital, and with USC researching the emotional needs of caregivers to the elderly in the lower income neighborhoods of Los Angeles County and as a Neuropsychological Examiner conducting research on Alzheimer’s Disease at the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (USC ADRC).  Additional assessment work includes pre- and post-doctoral work at Children's Institute, Inc. (CII) Los Angeles where he performed over 200 evaluations of children and their caregivers involved with the Child Protective Services system.  More recently he continued providing assessment services at Pacifica Neuropsychology Center in San Pedro. In addition, Dr. Bruzzone has worked for 3 years as a member of the County of Los Angeles' Psychiatric Mobile Response Team where he evaluated over 250 individuals, who were in emotional crisis, in order to determine if they should be hospitalized under Welfare and Institutions Code 5150/5585.  Lastly, Dr. Bruzzone is qualified to perform pre-employment appeals under California POST regulations and has performed over 250 assessments of this type as well as fitness-for-duty evaluations.  As a QME, Dr. Bruzzone is qualified to perform med-legal psychological evaluations for the California Workers Compensation system.
